Loraine Rushton and Adele Vincent have published two children’s yoga books based on Ryoho yoga. The first, Butterflies Be Gone! Yoga Therapy for Fear & Anxiety, was released in Feb 2023 and has been helping hundreds of children and families across Australia with stress and anxiety and related behavioural issues. Their second, Shout it Out! Yoga Therapy for Emotional Resilience, was released in Nov 2024 and is generating excitement in the children’s yoga community and among paediatric chiropractors.
The yoga stories are beautifully illustrated by Melbourne-based illustrator, Andrew McIntosh, and are published by Little Steps Publishing, Sydney. The stories are designed to help children understand and regulate their body, mind and emotions through yoga, breathing, positive mindset and visualisation.
In Butterflies Be Gone, Jesse faces his fears and builds inner strength and a positive mindset as he tackles bigger and bigger challenges. Through a magical underwater adventure, he eventually dissolves his anxiety by reconnecting with his inner self and realising what matters most.
In Shout It Out, we follow Jasmine as she navigates upsetting emotions and turns them into positive experiences. She gains self-awareness and ventures into a beautiful forest world where she feels safe to express herself and learns she can choose which emotional ‘seeds’ she wants to plant in her own inner ‘garden’.
Children and adults of all ages love Butterflies Be Gone and many children have enjoyed and benefitted from book readings at schools, libraries and childcare centres.
